The redbud tree, which seems to come as a tree or bush, and which seems to come in purple or red (my fav is purple tree) is such a delight to see in spring. The buds are right against the branch and so they squiggle around like each branch does. They bloom before leaves are revealed, so the bare tee becomes a blossoming treat.
Month: March 2016
March 26: Forsythia Upstaged
March 25: Beautiful Carpet
Here is one of my favorite displays of nature. Sure the flowers on the tree are wonderful as they emerge. But something about seeing them rain to the ground over a few days, hold their color, and then disappear into the grass (and to my floors indoors by sticking on soles) there petals just seem so artistic and somehow hopeful. The thought the 2nd life of each individual petal is as nice as the flowers they make in groups in their 1st life seems interesting.
March 24: First Day Of Rest Of Life
Today was the first day at Pepco after the acquisition by Exelon. Plenty of work happened and it didn’t seem like anything changed. The sun still rose in the east, my Pepco badge still opened the gate, my laptop still had Pepco colors and logos. Yet, some things changed greatly. People being nice because we don’t know who will be our new boss, spent the day in meetings, and had access to new company resources. The king is dead. Long live the king!
March 22: Calm Morning
March 17: saucer Magnolia
I normally am indifferent or a bit negative toward the tree in my front yard. It’s in the way, grows branches like I do hair (everywhere and easy), and will someday be a mess to clear up when it dies. But for the month of March my excitement grows as the beautiful blooms firm and then open on this tree and for a day or two becomes the most amazing display of cream and purple, filling every branch. Such an amazing display.
