March 7: Spring Warmup!

We had an extremely cold weekend a little over a week ago and now it’s in the 60’s – unusually warm and getting warmer. The neighborhood cherry trees are anxious to bloom. It won’t be long now until we see the annual show.

March 3: Loveland, CO

Took an afternoon with my team in CO to see the sights. Went to Rocky Mtn National Park to see wildlife. Didn’t see any. Coming back we saw elk just outside Estes and also a herd of 100-200 elk crossing the road here. Fantastic!

Mar 1: sunrise

Beautiful sunrise reflected on the Colorado mountains. Actually more beautiful than this photo looks. Long days at a conference, with lots of people, and some merger bad news. But the day will wane, darkness encroach, and a new day will dawn tomorrow with hope for betterment somehow.

Feb 24: conference for work

Today is the first day of the GIS Federal conference. Most of my day was spent at the Washington Convention Ctr. The usual metro ride downtown and then lots of being nice to people and shaking hands. A good chance to get away from the desk.

Feb 22: Surely Spring is close!

These daffodils on the corner in my neighborhood are, for me, the dependable sign of spring. There are many other groupings around the block, but for some reason these are always in my view when they emerge and they don’t seem to respond to the fad of a warm winter week or get delayed too much by a cold spell. So when I see these sprouting through the otherwise brown mulched landscape, I know it will not be long before I am walking my dog without a jacket on, and I smile. We have emerged.

Feb 12: Radiant Sunset

Pretty poor picture, but the setting sun on the treetops creates a scene that I only see in the shoulder seasons of the year. The golden colors at the top, the dimming light below…change is ever present.
